  1. I gave into meat again today! I feel bad for once again criticizing the dining hall but really it has been the only place I eat at -- and when I cook I will equally criticize me own work.

When I worked at the U-Club I thought it was funny because they always put the new interns out at the meat carving stations. I think it was some kind of joke but mostly because they were so happy to be there because it was their second or third day on the job that they still were all smiles and thus were better with the customers. Also whats it with the men always craving the meat? How does that fit under the manly column on the gender job list? Because I am often in the situation when I know more about the piece of meat and how to cut it than a man does. And women often traditional have cooked the meat so won't it be the women with the expertise? The only time traditionally ( I am not judging at all on the modern man or the restaurant worker) that they only touch the meat (except in cases when they bbq) do they interact with the raw meat in order to know how the cut is arranged.

Ok so the poor man who was charged with carving the beef for the night -- had been clearly taught that he had to cut it in a certain way but he hadn't been taught how to identify the side your suppose to cut off in order to cut perpendicular to the muscular grains. So I got a bad slice of meat that was difficult to cut apart because the meat preferred to tear in a diagonal manner than be cut. But I did see that he had improved for the pieces of meat my friends had been given. By the way the mashed potatoes (while not being 100% real did hit the spot!!). And the roasted tomatoes were tasty also -- they remind me so much of spring.

Who loves tortellini, tomato sauce and cottage cheese more than me! A good meal!
